Lloret de Mar - Tirada de l'art

Tirada de l'art is an old method of fishing from the beach and is how many people of Lloret earned their living for many years. The net is cast out sea then manually hauled in by the people of the town who were then given a few fish in return. These days its still a tradition which is carried out on the first Sundays of February and December to pay tribute to all those fishermen of years gone by.
Yesterday lunchtime the net was drawn into the beach as spectators watched and waited to see what was caught in the net. I'm glad to say it was a much better haul than we saw last year! Once the fish is on the beach its taken up the prepared barbecue for cooking and served with bread and of course (lots of) wine for the waiting crowds!

Catch of the day with lots and lots of small fish but quite a few large ones!

Trobada Motera - Lloret de Mar

What a fantastic turn out for the latest custom bikes event today in Lloret, all the way down Av Just Marles bikes of every make, size, shape and colour were lined up on both sides of the road! In the carousel square were stands and stalls selling bike/motor accessories and of course the usual 'refreshments' for the thirsty bikers! A stage was also set up for the days entertainment and live music from local band Snorfy later tonight...a great day with great weather for the bikers and all those who were there to see their machines on show!

Lunch at the International Restaurant.

A few of us went out for lunch to the International Restaurant in Fenals yesterday where you can get a lovely 'Menu del Dia' for only €10 each....not only is it a great menu but just look at the fantastic late afternoon views taken from the restaurant! Bright blue sunny skies and temperatures still in double figures...not bad for the last day of November, it was only 14ºc but still felt quite warm in the sun. Last night though was a different matter it actuall y dropped to -2º during the night!!

The International will be open on Christmas day for a special festive lunch, as yet we dont know whats on the menu but at a cost of €30 each it sounds like it could be worth looking at!
