Fenals beach

Continuing with the photos from Fenals beach, with yesterdays photos we can now clearly see that the sea is still very rough down there and bit by bit the beach is disappearing!
This part of the beach is normally a favourite spot for families with young children as they can safely walk through the shallow rock pools with their fishing nets and catch small fish and the little crabs which live among the rocks.

In these 2 photos you can see how the sea has carved out a huge steep ledge in the sand.
But meanwhile a family have found a safe spot on the beach to have a picnic, it really was so warm yesterday.

Where's Fenals beach gone?

The beach as it should be!
Fenals beach has certainly taken a pounding with the rough sea during the last few days, its now impossible to walk along the beach towards the Punto Garbi beach bar at the end as the foundations of the sea wall have now all collapsed near the the woods. So far the wall is still intact but it does look as though it wont last very long if the sea keeps on this relentless pounding. The weather however is still very good and even yesterday the temperature reached 18ºc - which is great for this time of the year. These photos show how  Fenals beach looks today and the 1st photo is how it should be on a normal winters day!

Views over Lloret de Mar

Here's quite a different view of Lloret today with these first 2 photos taken just yesterday overlooking the  nightlife area and on towards the Roca Grossa  urbanisation in the distance.
The Gran Casino Hotel just across from the bus station just now is looking rather quiet with all its balcony doors closed...and no beach towels hanging from them like we usually see!

Tirada a l'Art - Lloret Beach

This mornings event of Tirada a L'Art (fishing from the beach) took place at 8am and again those who took part had a beautiful start to day although it was very cold - only 2ºc!
Out at sea the boat first has to cast the nets so that all those on the beach can drag them back to the shore hopefully full of fish which will then be barbecued and shared out for breakfast.

Lots of volunteers were on hand to pull in the net this morning.

Young and old, they all like to get involved!

First sign of the net, what will be in there?

Preparing the bread with tomato and lots of olive oil, luckily today there was lots of fish to go round!
