Llorets 'March of the Beaches'
Now we are nearing the end of the summer season in Lloret de Mar, the very popular Xino Xano walks begin!
On Sunday 26th if you are feeling energetic you can take part in the 'March of the Beaches' in order to do this you will have to register before the end of today by phoning 972 37 22 68.
Walkers who are taking part will have an early start to the day by meeting at 8am (usually at the town hall) from here they will be taken either by bus or boat to the starting point - Cala Canyelles.
The aim is to then walk the 10 km route following the coast to Sant Cristina taking approx 2-3 hrs. Organisers are expecting a turn out of about 2,000 people this week-end as this has been one of the most popular walks on the Xino Xano calendar for the last 32yrs.
Those completing the walk to Santa Cristina are usually greeted with a huge helping of estofado (Catalan stew!) presented with a diploma and a small gift.

September Views of Lloret de Mar
The month of September sees a massive change in Lloret, both with the weather and the age of the visitors to the resort. The temperatures have fallen whilst the average age has risen sharply.
Taken only yesterday in Fenals you can see that these photos clearly show a much more relaxed atmosphere in town compared to the hustle and bustle of the mad months of July and August...by far the best month of the year!

A Day in Barcelona from Lloret de Mar.
One of the most exciting day trips from Lloret de Mar is a visit to Barcelona, there are several ways to get there from Lloret. For example you can book an excursion through one of the tour companies or simply make your own way by bus from the bus station. Some people prefer to take a bus from the bus station to Blanes some 20 mins away, then take the train which travels along the coast all the way to Barcelona, doing the journey this way means you see all the other coastal towns on the way there.
Taking an organised excursion will take you to some of the best sights in Barcelona such as the world famous football ground Camp Nou, Montjuic from where you can look out over the harbour which in its self is a major tourist attraction, they will take you along the streets where you can see the famous Gaudi architecture and also to the fascinating church of the Sagrada de Familia.

Lloret de Mar Weather September.
These 2 photos taken earlier this year show just how packed Lloret de Mar beach gets with hardly a spare place to found. Temperatures during the months of July and the larger part of August were almost unbearable this year reaching the high 30s just about everyday. Things are much different now that we are into September, temps are more comfortable now that they have dropped to the 20s but still feeling very hot if you are laid sunbathing for any length of time. With the breeze which we have had just recently it can quite deceiving just how powerful the sun is, so if you are here on holiday this month dont take any chances, make sure you keep your skin is protected from burning with lots of suncream!
