The church square was crowded yesterday with people looking around the traditional Christmas fare stalls. Local produce goods were on sale, but it seems the most popular stalls were the ones giving out free tapas & wine provided by the Xino Xano organisation!

A selection of photos from todays 'antiques' and 'old stuff' market in Lloret this morning, it was fairly busy - but who buys such stuff ? Classic cars were also on show, and I got photos of another interesting market near the church so more photos tomorrow!

Lloret de Mar Christmas Fare

At the same time the usual monthly market will be taking place in the carousel square. Stalls here are mostly antiques & collectable items (or should l say second hand!) Very interesting books, old photos, postcards from all over Spain are usually on sale.
Some stalls sell very nice handmade jewellery, ornaments and toys etc which may solve 1 or 2 of your Christmas present problems!

Christmas in Lloret
I had to look twice yesterday when a 4 x 4 vehicle passed me with a trailer on the back on which there were 2 police bikes. I've often heard people saying that the police seem to be getting younger these days but they would have to be getting a lot smaller as well to be able to ride these bikes! As the driver of the vehicle pulled up further down the road he let me take some photos before he pulled into his garage to unload them. Inside the grounds of the villa l could hear 2 little excited voices waiting to see their presents, not policemen at all but his two young sons!

Lloret Beach - Tirada a l'Art
There was plenty of activity on Lloret beach today where hundreds of people congregated for the annual Tirada a l'Art event. All those who join in continually pull on the rope to drag the fishing net from the sea, but today after tugging and pulling for about a hour or so when they finally got the net in there wasn't a single fish landed. It looks to me that maybe the Med is running out of fish!
