Another day and another 'adventure' out from Lloret de Mar, this little Catalan village is Monells in the Baix Empordà region and only a 1 hour drive from Lloret. It is typical of the many inland villages you come across as you travel inland away from the Costa Brava coast, but each village has its own special charm! At Monells there is a small river running through the centre, on both sides are pretty old well kept dwellings and narrow streets which are lined with potted plants and flowers adding lots of colour the town.
A genuine AWARD WINNING blog with all the insider info you need to know about Lloret de Mar its events, excursions, restaurants, pubs, bars and nightlife.

Cala Banys - Lloret de Mar
Well, after a dull and cloudy start to the day yesterday it turned out to be a beautiful warm day sunny so we had a stroll over to the Cala Banys bar for a relaxing drink by the sea. While there we had a bit of 'free entertainment' from this bike rider who was doing stunts on the rocks....and no he didnt fall in!

Catalan Towns near Lloret
Places to visit near to Lloret de Mar
Not far from the Costa Brava coast are a number of beautiful medieval villages, and two friends of mine Svein and Mercè recently told me about the one pictured here - Peratallada, and in the words of Mercé "Its absolutely gorgeous!"
On the way to Peratallada you have stunning mountain views which just now are still covered in snow, and after arriving at this gorgeous little town you will find not only is it free parking but there are so many typical Catalan restaurants that you are spoilt for choice of where to have lunch!
Only about a one hour drive from Lloret de Mar and you can be taking a leisurely stroll through these pretty little streets of this well kept medieval town!

Lloret de Mar beach
This weekend the rough sea has been constantly battering the beach again in Lloret but just look how different the beach looks this morning! Instead of the metal walkways hanging in midair as they were the sand is now back to more or less as it was before all the damage caused in February.
Below is just a reminder of the damaged beach last month!

Lloret de Mar - Montseny views
Looking towards Barcelona from Lloret de Mar you can see what is the highest mountain in this region south of the Pyrenees - 'Montseny' National Park at its highest point is 1,706 mts which during the winter months we can clearly see covered in snow from Lloret. Yesterday however it was a beautiful clear day with bright sunny skies and a very mild temperature so we were able to get these shots of the mountain from not quite at the top!
Above is a view towards Montseny from Loret |
