St George's Day in Lloret de Mar

Happy Saint George's day to everyone!

Saint George (Sant Jordi) is the Patron Saint of Catalonia so not only is this special day celebrated in England but also here in every Catalan town and village. The tradition here is that gifts of books and roses are exchanged by couples, partners, family members, and friends so out on the streets and town squares the shops and specially erected stalls are selling books of just about every topic under the sun and gifts of single stems or small arrangements of roses.
These photos show the colourful stalls in Lloret de Mar today.

Fenals Beach

Walking along Fenals beach on Good Friday we took a few photos of this young man doing a few acrobatic jumps, after loading them onto the computer at home this is the result after 'Google' has done its automatic editing!

Easter Sunday in Lloret de Mar

As predicted by just about everyone here the brilliant weather we have been having has suddenly made a turn for the worse for the Easter holidays. This morning we woke to a damp, dismal and a much cooler morning, so no sunbathing on the beaches for today at least but still everyone is out and about walking and riding along the seafront!

A day at Hostalric near Lloret

This Easter weekend Hostalric will be hosting its usual Easter Medieval Event when the town will be transported back to years gone by and resemble an 'Olde Worlde' village with market stalls of local made crafts and foods, entertainers and activities etc. With the fortress walls surrounding Hostalric and its tiny narrow streets it will surely be not too hard to imagine just how the village looked back in those medieval times!

Lloret de Mar by Night

After yesterdays sports teams taking part in games on Lloret beach last nights pictures show a much more tranquil scene with the lights from the seafront stores, restaurants...and also an added bonus was the full moon we happened to catch while it was quite low in the sky!
