Enjoying Lloret de Mar

 Lloret de Mar is a resort that is enjoyed by people of all ages, whatever your age there is something here for you. Maybe you would just like to get an almost all over tan as you stroll on the seafront, or maybe just sit by the beach and watch the world go by.

 Maybe you would like to take advantage of the free Volley Ball area which has now been erected right opposite the Route 66 Diner on the seafront!

A day at Palafrugell

 One of the prettiest resorts I've come across on the Costa Brava has got to be Palafrugell - a place I first heard about from our late friend Steve from Buzzby's Bar in Lloret. Whenever he wanted to get away from Lloret for a day on the beach this is the place he would visit, and after our recent visit I can understand why! Palafrugell only about 45 minutes drive from Lloret is a quaint totally unspoilt resort with a very tranquil atmosphere. Surrounded by stunning countryside Palafrugell is the favorite destination for not only hikers and cyclists but also those who enjoy the out at sea activities such as diving, snorkelling and sailing.

The 'Concert Festival Cap Roig' one of the biggest music events on the Costa Brava is held here every year, and tomorrow night 4th July the act which will open the event is Elton John he will be on stage in the Jardins de Cap Roig. Other world class artists due to appear between now and 15th August are James Blunt, Bryan Adams, Pet Shop Boys, Robert Plant ( from Led Zeppelin) to name just a few!

July & August events in Lloret

After a few bad days of weather we now have the sun again, just right for the start of the busiest time of the holiday season here in Lloret. July is a month with endless activities, of music, sports, crafts exhibitions, guided tours and everyones favourite - the large fireworks display on Lloret de Mar beach.
Also during the months of July & August the shops in the town centre will be allowed to stay open until 11pm. Many of these stores will be starting their summer sales during July with reductions of about 30% leading to larger discounts of 50-70% as the weeks go on.

Once again the beaches of Lloret have been awarded the Blue Flag, with the exception of one- Cala Canyelles, only reason is that the area is a licensed port and cars can be parked on the beach. The council will in the near future try to rectify these problems.
All along the Catalan coast 89 beaches have the Blue flag this year with 28 of these awarded to the Girona coast. The Blue Flag is an International standard awarded for the quality of the sea, maintenance of the facilities and necessary equipment for safety etc.

A day at Empuriabrava.

 About a I hour and 30minute drive up the coast from Lloret is the upmarket resort of Empuriabrava situated in the bay of Roses - a totally different resort to any other on the Costa Brava. Here you not only need a parking place for your very expensive car but a mooring for your very expensive boat/yacht right outside your very expensive villa or apartment!
