Carnival time in Lloret

How fast it comes around!

Yes, its February and Carnival time just about everywhere in Spain. This year it is all happening this weekend in Lloret, starting on Friday there are several events all linked to the carnival taking place, the official start will be the evening of Friday 5th Feb in front of the Town Hall...and again in the same square Saturday from 10.30 until 13.30 there will be more fun events which all the family can take part in.

The first of the 2 parades will take place at 4pm on Saturday and then you have another chance to see the full parade again at midday on Sunday.
On Wednesday 10th Feb we can see the close of the carnival with the 'Burial of the Sardine' around the Town Hall and beach area.

Lloret de Mar January weather

With a temperature of 16ºc its been a very pleasant day to take a walk along the seafront today as the weather here just now is still very good for the time of year...certainly much warmer than we normally get in January.
Today's photos show a bright blue sky with not a cloud in sight...which isn't always a good thing if your out and about taking photos!

Lloret de Mar in January

Now that the Christmas and New Year festivities are over we will all be looking forward to when the summer season begins once again - but there's no need to wait for the summer sun especially if you have just a few days holiday you need to take from work early this year. Today we were by the beach in Lloret and although it looked very cold as we looked out this morning it was a surprisingly very mild 17ºc walking along the seafront.

The Arrival of the 3 Kings

The arrival of the 3 Kings and his very colourful helpers this evening in Lloret.

Christmas & Reyes in Lloret

Today in Spain is traditionally the day that the children receive their Christmas presents...not from Father Christmas but the 3 Kings! In Lloret at 6pm this evening we can see them arrive by boat then make their way up the beach to the Town Hall. From there they travel to the sports pavillion at the back of town throwing sweets out to the hundreds of spectators who usually line the streets to watch the parade pass by....a very special event for all the kids to see!
