Its 35ºc today (18th July) with the temperatures predicted to stay around the same for the next day or so and then drop slightly for the weekend.

The Billionaire's Yacht in Lloret!

There has been a lot of talk in town about a 'super yacht' which has been seen out at sea just off  Lloret beach. The problem has now been solved and I can now tell you the yacht is owned by Andrei Melnichenko, born in 1972 in Belarus. He co founded the MDM bank which became one of Russia's largest private banks in only 10yrs, he is also a member of the international elite 'under 40' Billionaire's club.

Barcelona Airport to Lloret/Tossa de Mar

The Sarfa bus company have now increased the number of daily transfers between Barcelona El Prat airport and Lloret de Mar/Tossa de Mar The bus stops outside T2 at the airport, the first  bus departs at 9.55, 1125, 12.25, 13.25, 17.55, 18.55, 19.25, 19.55. the timetable is valid until 30-9-12.
For the return journey from Lloret de Mar bus station the first bus departs at 8am, 9.30,10.30, 11.30, 14.15, 16.00, 17.00, 18.00 the journey time is approx 95mins. Again the return times are valid until 30-9-12...but are subject to change.

Lloret Weather Latest

Just a quick weather update - It has reached 32ºc in Lloret today (34ºc in Blanes) with not a cloud all day! Its now 4.30pm and the current temperature is 29ºc with a very slight breeze making it feel more comfortable. With these hot temperatures it is very hard to keep your cool so drink plenty of water so you don't dehydrate, use plenty of sun cream, the higher the factor the better. Using a high factor will not stop you from getting a tan but will prevent you from the harmful sun rays, and remember to reapply after a dip in the pool.

Also a handy tip, buy a fan just like the older Spanish ladies use, they really do the job of cooling you down!

Lloret News - Clon Festival 2012

This years Clon Festival dates and Tribute bands have now been announced, on the 27th July the festival kicks off with a band I've never actually heard of and they are Heroes de la Antartida a tribute to 'Mecano' I'm told they were a very well known and successful Spanish band during the 80s.
Second on the list playing on 10th August is Séra Clocks a tribute to Coldplay...which I think will be my favourite of this years acts!
On the 24th August will be a tribute to Metallica, and they are Séra Metalmania. 
All the bands can be seen on stage at 10.15pm down by the beach at Roca dén Maig at the opposite end to the castle. For a reminder of last years acts take a look at the photos and videos on the Clon Festival page.

Its a busy weekend in Lloret!

What a fantastic day its been today in Lloret, the beach has been packed with hardly a space to be found!  We had a really hot spell towards the end of June when we were getting temperatures in the high 30s but its now cooled down feeling much more comfortable with temps 26-27ºc.

 These photos from today showing some of the girls on the beach topping up their tans....some may have even taken a trip on the Ladies Parasailing to cool down!

Enjoy & Respect Lloret de Mar!

 New leaflets are been handed out to visitors to Lloret which give recommendations for enjoying their time in the town. Stricter guidelines are now in force and fines will be given out to those who dont comply....here is a copy of the leaflet with details of the new regulations.

Fines of up to €3,000 will be given for underage drinking, anti social behaviour, endangering your life or that of another person, damaging property in the streets and prostitution in public places.
Swimming costumes must be only worn on the beach or on the roads next to beach otherwise you could be find up to €750 for this offence...so be wise and cover up!
For a late night singing and shouting session on your way back to your hotel which disturbs others in the nearby area could land you with a fine of €1,500!

Parrots in Lloret

For  the last week or so we have been hearing an unfamiliar squawking in our local area just a minute or so from the beach in Fenals. I finally managed to see what it was yesterday and quickly got hold of the camera and took these photos before it disappeared again! We have seen parrots before in Lloret but they tend to live at the back of the resort in the woods. This one is different from the usual short tailed parrots and are wondering if he has escaped from somewhere as he does seem to be living alone.

30years for Lianne Smith

Lianne Smith the woman who suffocated her 2 children in the Miramar Hotel in 2010 has been sentenced to a 30years prison sentence 15yrs for each child. Her partner who was extradited to the UK was serving a prison sentence for pedophilia was found dead in his cell last January.

Lloret de Mar Blue Flag Beaches

Four out five of the Lloret de Mar beaches have once again been allowed to fly the 'Blue Flag' which is the awarded for the environmental condition of the beach and sea in the nearby area.

Passing Cruise Liner

 Tonight is very humid and misty, at the moment the time is 21.25 and the temperature is still 29ºc....it probably wont cool down much more through the night, making it another very uncomfortable night for sleeping

 Looking out to sea this cruise liner was just passing, I should think it will be docking in at Palamos just up the coast....it almost looks as though its sailing through the air as you cant tell where the sea ends and the sky starts!

Lloret de Mar Summertime

 Lloret is now getting temperatures in the high 30s, with reports saying that its going to be a scorching summer!  The town has got that familiar buzz again which seems to come when the town is full of holiday makers.


Last week there were 1,500 clubbers in town and this week there are approx 3,000  here to sample the best nightlife on the Costa Brava. The beach bars, boats and fast food places are also benefiting from all the young visitors.

 Its getting hotter by the day in Lloret, 36ºc yesterday, so what better way than to spend an hour or so sat under the shade of the trees at Bar Cala Banys the most picturesque cocktail bar in Lloret! From where we live its just about a steady 20-30 minutes walk through the woods, and it really does feel much cooler sat on their terrace with light breeze from the sea.

 Well I dont know if I'm right but it certainly felt like it was the hottest day of the year so far in Lloret today. The town is now very busy, the boats are doing a good trade and there are plenty of people on the streets, lets hope it keeps up like this for the rest of the season! Oh! and just to confuse everyone the one way system that was put in place on the road along the seafront last year is this week been changed back to the two way system we had before!

 

Lloret de Mar Bike hire

 For a trip on the roads around Lloret de Mar with  difference there is a new hire service which may interest all the bikers out there. Just down near the beach at the opposite end to the castle you can hire a trike,  there are 2 to choose from and the trikes are available to rent by the hour.Bikes and mopeds are also available.

Lloret de Mar Guitart Rosa Hotel

While out shopping in Lloret centre the other day I passed by the Guitart Rosa Hotel and couldnt resist just stepping inside the gate to have a look around the tropical style garden and take a photo of this beautiful building. Its such a pleasant change to see such a well cared for and peaceful garden even though it stands on the corner of one of the busiest shopping streets in Lloret!

Lloret fast food & takeaway

In Lloret you have a huge choice of fast food options from the local bodegas, pizzas, kebab places to the usual well known brands you are familar with back home. Just on the main strip in Lloret centre alone you have a choice of Burger King, McDonalds and just recently opened is Subway with their usual snacks, salads and wraps menu. All have the same offers and meal deals as seen at home. Other places have also newly opened this year and these are the new burger & fries place 'John Thomas' and Capricci. Capricci seem to be doing very well with their €3.75 all day English or Continental breakfasts as well as their pizzas and pasta meals...it makes you feel hungry just walking past!

Another great day today with plenty of sun and just a little light cloud, the temperature reached 28c in Fenals.
