Lloret de Mar Castle

 Views from the rugged pathway leading around the Castle of Lloret which I should think is the most photographed landmark in the town. To photograph these stunning views of Lloret you only have to make your way to the Castle at the end of the beach where you will find the pathway cut out from the rocky coastline...just follow the path through tunnels and steep staircases until you simply cant walk any further. One tip though, dont forget to take a bottle of water so you dont dehydrate, you wont find any shops along this path !! :-)

After the heavy rain of yesterday in Lloret, this morning we awoke to blue skies with quite a lot cloud, but today the clouds were not rain clouds but large white ones and the sun was shining again - Ideal conditions for getting out and about to take a few photos. To start the day we headed over to Lloret  to take a walk along the path which takes you around the castle.

Spain Weather Today

Todays weather reports from Spain are telling terrible stories of people in Southern regions having lost their lives in flash floods caused by heavy rainfall. In Lloret today we are experiencing heavy rain but nothing as bad as that seen on the news. The rain is forecast to continue for the next 2 days and then we should be seeing the sun again on Tuesday. This is a video just taken from our balcony....I dont think I'll be going much further today!

 Rain was forecast today in Lloret - but up until 8pm it hasnt yet appeared. What we have had though are these spectacular sights in the the sky, these photos were taken looking out from our rooftop this evening as the the sky changed minute by minute!

 

 

 

 

 

Lloret de Mar - Fenals Today

 Along with temperatures of 28ºc in Lloret today we have had blue skies but very rough seas, the red flags were flying on the beach meaning no swimming was allowed. It didnt seem to spoil anyones enjoyment though as todays pctures show the beach in Fenals was still very busy with holidaymakers.

Lloret de Mar in September

September and things are a little quieter in Lloret just now that, the holiday makers that do come at this time of year like a more leisurely pace...and at least the weather is holding out for them! This morning it didnt look as though the sun was going to make an appearance, but just now we have a temperature of 24º c with a little light cloud. Ideal for lazing on the beach or around the pool, or taking a trip on the para sailing to view the resort from high in the sky!!

Lloret de Mar late night Shopping

A new event is planned for tomorrow night (Fri 21st Sept) in the centre of Lloret, this is the first of the 'Lloret Night Shopping' and  there seems to be quite a bit of interest by what I have been hearing so far. Apart from the stores which will be open until after 12 midnight it seems lots of other activities will be happening in and around the shopping streets. Live music, a fashion show and a glasses of champagne will be given out for those walking through the town. It should be a great fiesta atmosphere and bring quite a lot of trade to the local stores. One of the shops 'Celio' the mens fashion store in San Pedro are urgently asking for 2 male models to take part...any of you local lads out there need a bit of work!

Catalan Day

The church  in Lloret with the Catalan flag covering almost one side of the tower in celebration of the National Day of Catalonia. For this special day yesterday its reported that 1.5 million people joined in the rally through the city of Barcelona for independence.

A trip to Montserrat

 Montserrat is visited by hundreds of thousands of people every year, they all have their own reason for coming to the monastery, some for spiritual reasons, some to listen to the world famous boys choir, some people come for the hiking opportunities around the mountain tracks, and also mountain climbers who like the challenging climbs of the sheer mountain sides. 

Whatever your reason its a trip you will remember for the rest of your life...the scenery is stunning!

 The trip up the mountain can be done in 2 stages by the funicular railway.

Lloret de Mar Shopping

 I was up and about quite early this morning so I went to see what was on offer in Lloret at the last day of the sales. Some of the best bargains were at the better shops such as Juanola, Benetton and Mango, with the other stores selling just about everything you could think of...bags, shoes, toiletries, perfumes and even bathroom accessories!

Its that time of year again when the summer sales are now coming to an end. Sunday 2nd September in and around the main shopping streets of Lloret stores will have all their last minute bargains set out on stalls. This last day of sales will take place from 10am - 10pm. You will also find several stalls in the church square and also out in front of the town hall...bouncy castles will be also there to keep the kids occupied while your rummaging through the bargains!

Fenals Fiesta - Lloret

Its been a fantastic fiesta weekend in Fenals with 3 days of celebrations, we have had live music, fireworks and dancing all going on until the early hours of the morning.

The kids have been able to enjoy all kinds of activities such as rides and bouncy castles on the square and also down on the seafront.
