Fenals Beach today

Mid April and the temperatures in Lloret are starting to climb, today it reached almost 22c....it seems summer isnt too far away!

Costa Brava Rally 2013

This weekend we can see the 10th edition of the Historic Costa Brava Rally which will again be based in Lloret de Mar. The podium will be in its usual place by the Town Hall, while cars can be seen in the Water World car park when not racing around the winding roads of the Costa Brava!
On Sunday the awards ceremony will taking place at 11.30 - 1pm at the podium.

We now have a great new web cam up and running, it looks out from our balcony down towards the seafront in Fenals. You simply have to click on the camera over in the column on the right and follow the signing in details. If you are planning a holiday in Lloret then its a great way to keep a check on the weather, or just be nosy and watch the boats as they sail in and out from Fenals beach!
The camera does have night vision but is much better viewed in daylight hours!

Lloret de Mar today

Walkers who joined in with the Xino Xano trek around Lloret de Mar churches had great conditions for their 8am start this morning at the Town Hall, the sun has shone all day with just a little cloud and a slight breeze. After completing the 18kms they all gathered on the beach for their lunch of butifarra, bread, salad and wine.

 Now that the Easter weekend is over Lloret de Mar is again very quiet, these photos taken only yesterday (Wednesday 3rd April) show the lonely life guard on the beach! Several of the hotels which were closed for winter have again reopened but as yet the summer season has yet to get
 started.

Lloret de Mar - A Walk to all the Churches

A walk of approx 18kms has be organised by the walking club Xino Xano to all the churches in Lloret. Starting at the Town Hall square next Sunday 7th April at 8am it will take in all the sights as seen on the map below. After returning to the seafront in Lloret souvenir Ts will be handed out and a lunch will be served for all those taking part.

Gerry's Bar

Thanks to Simon and Ian for a great time in Gerry's Bar yesterday, close friends were there to say good bye to the bar as we know it. The bar has been open since 1974 and is one of the most well known bars in Lloret. It will undergo some minor changes during the coming weeks and will then be reopened by Jesus who owns another bar in the same area. Good luck to Simon in whatever his plans are, and also good luck to Jesus with his new venture!

 After what seemed like a very gloomy start to the day for the Classic cars auction/sale the weather turned out to be quite warm and the blue sky reappeared. As predicted there were approx 50 stalls there selling a range of items for the car and bike fans.

Classic Cars in Lloret

Tomorrow morning (31st March) there is to be a special sale for the classic car enthusiasts, this event is taking place in the Rieral district of Lloret de Mar. Its expected that approx 50 stalls will be selling spare parts etc, there is also an auction planned for some cars and other motoring items. If the weather is good then it should prove to be a popular event as I'm sure that as usual there will be other stalls with goods on sale that are nothing to do with cars!

Hotel Fire in Lloret de Mar

A small fire started in the top floor laundry room of the Hotel Plaza Paris at 4pm this morning Monday 25th March. All guests and staff were evacuated, but the fire was contained to the laundry room and quickly brought under control after which everyone was then allowed back into the premises.

Lloret de Mar Spaceblaster

The new summer season in Lloret has got off to a flying start with the Spaceblaster opening for the first time this year. First ones to take to the air for the initial run were Gwen & Alexis partners of Mick & Gary....well someone had to be daring enough do it!

Today in Lloret we have a fantastic sunny day...see the screen shot showing the true weather conditions and forecast for today. In the sun it feels much warmer than the stated 13ºc temperature so its ideal conditions to get out and about for a walk!

Taking a walk around Lloret de Mar and you quickly realise that Lloret is much more than a beach holiday resort!

Llorets ducks on the lake!

 In Fenals just along the road at the back of the Royal Beach hotel the car park has been flooded again this winter and we can now see ducks quite happily swimming there! The car park usually floods and creates this large 'lake' if we have heavy rain through the winter, and dries up again during the summer - So it seems these ducks have quite happily decided to make Lloret their winter home. Wouldn't it be nice if this area was made into a permanent lake and park land area and kept as a place where birds and other small wildlife animals could make their home. It wouldn't take much doing, a few trees, plants, a bit of grass either sowing or laying, a few benches where people could just sit in peaceful a surrounding. Its something that we don't have anywhere in Lloret.

I'm sure it would be much better than a car park which hardly gets used!

  Just on the edge of town are these beautiful apartments in the El Llorers holiday complex. All the apartments have just been newly renovated for the start of this new 2013 season. The complex has a great family atmosphere with great amenities. At the bar you have a great drinks (try their amazing cocktails!) and food menu. There is a large pool and sun bathing area, karaoke, pool, darts, internet access and video games its all here at Els Llorers! If you would like to watch a match at Barcelona's Nou Camp stadium then Els Llorers are official booking agents so you can easily buy your tickets and transport here at the bar.

Lloret Nudist Beach

 After a few days of damp, dismal cold weather when we saw extremely rough sea the sun is now here and temperatures are very good....18ºc on Friday when these photos were taken over at Lloret's nudist beach Boadella. The sea was still very rough with waves crashing into the rocks, but it was a great day to get this years tan off to a good start!

Desperado's Is Open!

Not a new bar but a new name for Bravehearts!

Bravehearts was always a very successful and well known bar among the Scottish holiday makers but now Londoner Paul has decided it was time for a change!

DESPERADO'S opening night got off to great start for Paul & Wendy who have given the bar a great new look! 

Paul is a great host and will be showing live sports on TV and Karoke sessions will be held everynight...so bring your party to Desperado's!
