Lloret Reggae Fest 2013

The annual Reggae Fest one of the events of the Santa Cristina festival will be starting this Saturday 20th July at 2pm with a selection of non stop activities for children during the day from 10am until 6pm. After which it is time for the adults to PARTY with lots of entertainment, live music and dancing until 2am - all taking place at Sa Caleta, the end of the beach by the castle.

Lloret de Mar Giants Event

As part of the Santa Cristina celebrations Lloret's 'Giants' will be out and about walking the streets of Lloret this coming Saturday 20th July. They will be joined by giants from other towns as they start off from Carrer Torrent near the carousel square and make their way to the Town Hall Square.

Live music events in Lloret

This Friday 12th July there will be a free live concert  by Big band jazz musicians from Blanes, this will be taking place at 10pm  on the seafront near the Marine Club in Lloret. Also the next day Saturday 13th on the stage at the far end of the beach near the Zoo beach bar and Blue bar there will be another band playing 8pm-9pm.  The same band will be playing again Tuesday 16th 8pm-9pm in the carousel square... The music will be pasodoble & tango style....so get your dancing shoes on!

On Sunday in front of the Town Hall a Music & Dance festival will be taking place starting at 5.30pm and again on Tuesday 17th at 8pm, I believe this event has been organised by the Russian Tourist Association office in Lloret.

Santa Cristina Fiesta

To celebrate the coming Santa Cristina fiesta there will be a competition which all Lloret residents can take part in. The idea is that residents should decorate their balconies in any way they choose and prizes will be awarded for the best 3..the more colouful and elaborate the better! Those interested should contact the Associacio de Veins del Antic before 17th July and balconies  should be decorated between the dates of 23rd -26th July. Here is one example but I'm sure there will be lots more out there when it gets round to judging time.

Barcelona Airport to Lloret de Mar

Arriving at Barcelona and need to travel to Lloret de Mar or Tossa ?

The Sarfa Bus company have a very handy public bus service to and from Barcelona Airport to either Lloret or Tossa de Mar. At present the fare is €12.80 one way.

 Its been a HOT day in Lloret today, probably the hottest of the year so far!

These photos from today show the busy beach with people making the most of the sun while here on holiday.......

........but some found a great way to cool down - the Queen Vic outdoor foam party!

Lloret Clon Festival 2013

Its the height of the summer season in Lloret and  we're getting nearer to one of the best events of the Lloret de Mar calendar - the Clon Festival!
This year we will see 3 acts during the months of July and August.
On the 27th of July there will be another chance to see the excellent Beatles tribute Abbey Road, they last played here in July 2009.

The second act on 9th August will be Funky Monks (almost the same name as a popular Lloret de Mar pub!)...a new band who haven't played this event before, they are a tribute to Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The last one which is a tribute to a Spanish pop /rock from band which I haven't heard of and they are El Ultimo Tributo - El Ultimo de Fila playing 23rd August.
All acts will be on the stage by the beach near the Blue Bar and new Zoo Beach Club.

Fenals Beach

Lloret's two largest beaches Lloret and Fenals are linked by a very nice although quite hilly walk along the cliff tops and woodland. To start your walk in Lloret simply make your way to the bronze statue of the Dona Marinera and follow the rocky pathways and stairs. Passing on the way Bar Cala Banys and the tall Sant Juan tower, from there you will see a long flight of stairs which will take you all the way down to the picturesque beach of  Fenals.

If after this trek you can always catch the 'L2' bus back to Lloret de Mar if you feel you have done enough walking for one day!

Lloret de Mar Holidays

We have just had the official start of summer here in Spain with the San Juan  festival, cities and towns all over Spain celebrate this fiesta with a noisy night of bonfires, fireworks music and dance which goes on until the early hours of the morning!

Now that the festivities are over we have a much calmer holiday atmosphere.....the beaches are quite busy as today is a holiday and everyone seems to have taken to the sea! The resort boats, parasailing  and catamaran cruise are having a busy day and those who are lucky enough to have their own boats are making the most of the good weather.

Death of Craig Mallon Lloret de Mar

I've been asked to put an update on the blog about the recent appeal for information regarding the sad death of Craig back in March 2012. An appeal letter has now been sent out to every hotel in Lloret asking for their management to forward it to every guest who were staying at their hotels during the weekend of 18-20th May 2012.

Below is a letter from Craig's mum to thank everyone for their support and help....

"Out of the hundreds of people who were in Rockefellers where Craig was before he was killed we have only had 7 girls coming forward. These girls from Scotland left at 5am and did not witness the incident however they have helped ...piece together some background and I am delighted with that. “
“We need more people like that to come forward with background or any information. Please think carefully about the night Craig was killed, if you were in Rockefellers Nightclub or the area where the fatal assault happened please contact our dedicated e mail address info@craigmallon.com”

Lloret de Mar night of Jazz

Santa Clotilde gardens are hosting a night of Jazz this coming Saturday 22nd June at 8pm, tickets can be bought at the Maritime Museum for €10. The concert by the quartet Eva i Fun Jazz will be a night of music from  the 30s, 40s, and 50s.
