Lloret de Mar in September

Yesterdays views of Lloret.

Another beautiful day in September!

Sunday on the beach with a mix of holiday makers and as its the weekend lots of the local residents making the most of their day off work! ... But not everyone gets a weekend off work, some workers especially those in the bar trade work 7 days per week from the start of the season to the end. Most of them will now be counting down the days to when they actually finish and if you ask they will probably know exactly how many days they have yet to work!

September in Lloret

Fenals Beach
September in Lloret and we are still having glorious weather but there is a much more relaxing atmosphere about town and on the beaches. With the children being back to school after their long summer break...its now time for the grown ups to have their holidays and the bars, clubs and restaurants are still open until mid October at least. Its a great time to visit Lloret de Mar just now as there are some bargain flights available to the Cost Brava for the coming weeks!

Lloret de Mar Shopping

Its been reported that Lloret's council has now decided (at long last!) that it needs to look into the types of shops which are now opening in the town. Hopefully it seems that they have now realised that every other shop in the centre are all selling the same cheap tacky items! Personally I think that there are now too many Chinese bazaar shops and shops which sell everything for a Euro...or less. Fake branded goods and fake football shirts can be bought in far too many of these shops, surely this is illegal? Some of the offensive wording and pictures printed on the T shirts, beach towels and other stuff which are seen hanging outside these stores hardly give the right image of the family resort that Lloret de Mar is trying to be.

We do have some very nice designer names and good quality stores in Lloret so surely its time that the council looked at ways to only allow people to open 'nice' stores but will the Lloret officials ever change it, maybe its gone too far to do a U turn!

Lloret Antiques Fair

For the first time in Lloret we have a genuine antiques fair taking place as from today Friday 13th Sept until Sunday 15th, organised by Novira Art & Russia House. The stalls are situated in front of the townhall from 10am - 10pm - we had a look around this morning and there are some very nice items for sale.

Also a few weird looking faces for sale!

Leaving Lloret de Mar!

Yesterday was a special occasion for many of Llorets locals who were invited to Rabbies Bar by Mick and Gwen for a little get together before they both have to say good bye to the place they have both called home for many years. Gwen and their little son Sam will be leaving on Saturday to go join her family in Holland, Mick is staying to complete the season on the 'Spaceblaster' and will then join Gwen and Sam...but he does plan to be back for the 2014 season. We wish them all the best and every happiness in their new home!

Catalunya Independence Day

It's a massive day in the Catalan calendar tomorrow when the Catalan flag will be seen flying on many buildings and hanging from thousands of balconies and windows in the province! September 11th is their national day so as well as celebrations in every village, town and city there will also be protests and marches. Hundreds of thousands of Catalans are expected to participate in what has been described as a human chain stretching 400km down the coast from Port Bou near the French border to Tarragona. Buses from Lloret de Mar will take protesters to their places along the planned route....there will be disruptions on the roads around the protest from 3pm onwards.

Fenals/Santa Cristina Fiesta

The weekend long fiesta has now come to a close and what an exciting weekend it was, this has been one of the best events of the year! The events yesterday were all taking place in the childrens playground area in Fenals starting at 6pm with the entertainment going on well into the night

Zumba!
Drummers

The excellent Coutry Revival Farners who are seen at many events in Lloret de Mar - they do a wide range of music with a country & western / rock & roll theme which brings out all their line dancing fans!

Once again it was a chance to see some Flamenco style dancing in Lloret, they always get a great welcome as they are all local ladies who live and work and Lloret.
A little girl from the 'Chiky Morales' Flamenco group...their parents must have been really proud to see them all performing so well on stage!
