Lloret Clon Festival 2014
The Bruce Springsteen tribute band 'Manel Fuentes & The Springs Team' were the first act for this years Clon Festival and what a great show they put on! We were there last night (Fri 18th July) for the start at 10.30pm and as usual managed to get right to the front of the stage where we could get some real close up shots of the band, just a few of which are here on this page but more can be seen here >

Beaches closed after shark spotted
Six beaches between the Barcelona towns of El Masnou and Premia de Mar were closed on Tuesday after a Blue Shark was spotted close to shore by the lifeguards.
Blue sharks which can weigh approx 80 kilos are not normally a threat to humans unless they themselves feel threatened. Two more sharks were later seen in the same area.
The beaches were reopened on Wednesday morning.

Today in Lloret
It seems that everyone in Lloret today headed for the beach and with the temperature reaching 33ºc its no surprise! Its nice to see so many holiday makers in town just now after what has been a very slow start to the season.

Lloret's Russian Festival
As it was such a lovely evening yesterday we decided to take a walk over to see the dancers and singers taking part in the Russian Festival, here are the results of just a few of the photos we took. They all put on a fantastic show which was enjoyed by the hundreds of spectators who had taken their places around the stage well before the concert started.
To us the star of the show was the young girl below who I believe they said came from Lloret de Mar, she had a beautiful voice and sang an opera style song without a hint of nerves and got a great applause at the end...a really emotional moment!
Just a few of the spectators below with the not too happy looking judges!

A visit to Sils near Lloret
I've often heard of nearby Sils but never thought of paying the little town a visit until yesterday, but what a pleasant day it was..just about a 20 minute drive away from Lloret and you arrive at this lovely well kept place! Its a great place to visit for nature lovers or if you enjoy walking/cycling as there are well signposted routes around the lake and along the lanes beyond the town. We came across the lake and followed the footpath all the way round, unfortunately its not possible to get very close to the lake owing the marshy land but there are several 'hides' from where to watch out for the visiting birds and wildlife.
The only wildlife we came across yesterday was a local cat hiding in the shrubbery and several terrapins in the river but we will visit again to try catch some photos of the birds of prey that we've heard can be seen.

Enjoying Lloret de Mar
Lloret de Mar is a resort that is enjoyed by people of all ages, whatever your age there is something here for you. Maybe you would just like to get an almost all over tan as you stroll on the seafront, or maybe just sit by the beach and watch the world go by.
There are organised guided tours round the museums and gardens for your group.
Maybe you would like to take advantage of the free Volley Ball area which has now been erected right opposite the Route 66 Diner on the seafront!
Sunbathing on the rocks ....it looks a little too uncomfortable to me!
Bring your book to the beach.
