Summer has arrived in Lloret!

 21ºc today and it really feels as though the summer season has got off to a good start. Today we had a trip over to the beautiful little beach of Santa Fransesc where there were a few people there making the most of the early summer sun!

We are now seeing more tourists in town as they arrive for their Easter holidays with this the hotels, bars and shops etc are now opening their doors for what we all hope will be a successful season.

Visiting Andorra

 In just a little over a 3 hour drive from Lloret de Mar you can visit a totally different world - away from the mild winter climate of the Costa Brava coast you can be in the well known ski resort of Andorra. For our stay we were in the pretty village of Arinsal just by the 'Gondola' which takes skiers up the mountain.
Andorra is also known for its cheaper shopping and attracts people from Spain and France who visit the large hypermarkets and department stores to stock up on not only essential household shopping but they can also take advantage of cheaper alcohol and tobacco products...but owing to customs control you are very limited on the amount of tobacco and cigarettes etc you can import in Spain.

Lloret de Mar weather

We have a very grey and rainy morning to start the week today in Lloret...These still shots are taken at 8.15 from the live webcams located around town. 

63 Costa Brava Rally

 Lloret de Mar is almost prepared for this weekends 63 Costa Brava Rally...the oldest one in Spain! The race starts on Friday 13th from from the podium in front of the town hall at 5pm. 

Lets hope the weather stays as good as it has been these last few days...but sadly this may not be so as the forecast is for rain most of next week

Chinese New Year in Lloret

 Yesterdays Chinese New Year celebrations were a massive success for Lloret as thousands of people came into town and lined the streets to watch the passing parade. The giants of Lloret also made an appearance dancing they're way along the road with the colourful Chinese dragons. Just like the previous weekend for the carnival we once again had a beautiful sunny day for the event!

This weekend we can see another new event taking place in the town...celebrations for the Chinese New Year, the year of the goat!
On Saturday & Sunday there will be a market in front of the Town Hall of Chinese crafts and food, then Sunday at 11.30am a parade of mythological animals and participants wearing traditional Chinese costumes.

Lloret de Mar Carnival 2015

Those taking part in Sundays Carnival parade had great weather I'm glad to say,2 nice warm days in a row for them..we dont usually get that! Altogether we took more than 400 photos over both days, its so difficult deciding which are the best for publishing...but here are just a few more which I thought the best of the bunch!

Lloret de Mar Carnival 2015

 What a beautiful day it turned out to be for todays Carnival parade in Lloret de Mar, the has sun shone for most of the day! Well done to all those who took part as I know that they have been working very hard for many weeks practicing their routines. They put on a fantastic afternoons entertainment enjoyed by hundreds of spectators...and it looked as though they enjoyed every minute them selves today! It all take place again tomorrow at midday so hopefully the weather will be just like it was today.

Lloret de Mar Carnival

This coming weekend is Carnival time in Lloret one of the best events of the year! as usual there will be 2 parades - the first is on Saturday at 4pm and the next is mid day on Sunday.
