September in Lloret

 What a lovely peaceful start to the day it was in Lloret this morning!

First thing this morning it looked as though we were set to have a dull, cloudy and much cooler day but shortly after these photos were taken the sun gradually came out from behind the clouds and once again we have an almost cloud free blue sky with a current temperature of 24ºc.

Game of Thrones in Girona

Series 6 of the popular TV series 'Game of Thrones' is just now been filmed in Girona....not too surprising when you look around at the fantastic buildings and streets of the old part of the city, it's an ideal back drop for the Game of Thrones!

We had a trip there on Monday to see if we could see any of the filming taking place, sadly the only evidence we saw were lots of TV & media vehicles parked up just across the river from where filming is taking place and just 2 stars of the series....the horses seen in the photos below!

Lloret de Mar - garden party

The British Benevolent Association are holding a traditional English garden party this coming Saturday 19th September 3-6pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy home made cakes, games for young and old, plant sale, brick a brac stalls tombola and lots more.
Sounds like it will a fun filled day for everyone!

Lloret September events

There are several events taking place during the coming few days. Friday 11th Sept is the National day of Catalunya so to celebrate this there will be various activities around the streets near the town hall in particular a Sardana (Catalan dance) competition.

You can also see some of the local ladies demonstrating their lace making skills in the Carousel square 9-12am.

Again in front of the town hall on Saturday & Sunday 12-13th Sept there will be a day long painting and photography exhibition/sale.

Sunday is the Fiesta of Alegries church just on the edge of town, this is also a full day event starting with a church service and baptisms. After which there will be Sardana dancing, food, drinks, fun & games for the kids and stalls selling plants and local made crafts etc.

Local Fiestas

All the small local towns and villages are having there own 2 to 3 day festivals at this time of year, this weekend coming is the Vidreres festival. They have a full programme of events just follow the link to see what's going on ..... Vidreres events

 

Fenals/Santa Clotilde Fiesta 2015

There will be lots of activities taking place around Fenals this Friday and Saturday 28-29th August. The annual festival consists of 2 full days of music, dance, foam party, food, fireworks and lots more....see the poster below.

Castellers in Lloret

For the first time ever I got chance to see the Castellers yesterday, they were in Lloret taking part in the Independence rally outside the Town Hall. Those who take part in building the human towers wear a special kind of clothing usually consisting of white trousers and a coloured shirt representing the team and region they are from. Around their middle they have a wide tightly bound sash this is to help those climbing up to gain a better grip and it also gives extra support to their backs.
Castellers is a Catalan tradition and can often be seen at events in towns and villages, but for the people in Lloret this weekend however we didnt have to travel too far to see this amazing event!

Clon Festival 2015

A new date has been set for the Clon Festival U2 tribute band.

Owing to it been cancelled by the bad weather on the scheduled date of 14th August, it will now take place on the 30th August...same time - same place!

Shopping in Lloret

This coming Sunday 23rd August the stores will once again be having their end of summer season sale starting at 10am until 11pm. Stores will have the last of their sale items out on stalls in the streets.....so it's a good chance to get yourselves a few bargains!

Lloret August Weather

Yesterdays photos taken along the beach in Lloret show that the weather has changed from the sunny blue skies that seem to have been here all summer we now have dull and cloudy weather...although its still very hot and humid. The weather is forecast to be more unsettled for the coming few days with rain and thunder storms said to be on way!

Lloret de Mar - Clon Festival 2015

The last of this years Clon Festival act will be on stage this coming Friday 14th August down by the beach...they are 'Please' a U2 tribute band. We have previously seen a U2 tribute act (Achtung Baby) back in 2011 and they were excellent...hopefully 'Please' will be equally as good!

Out & about in Lloret

Just recently in Lloret the weather has been a little cooler than the harsh temperatures we had last month. Today as the pictures show we once again had a beautiful clear sunny day with a slightly cooler 32c and a lovely light breeze making the day so much more bearable!

 

Lloret de Mar Clon Festival

This Friday evening 31st July the second of this years Clon Festival will take place on stage at approx 10:30pm down by Lloret beach.
The band is 'Synchronicity' a Police tribute act.
