Lloret de Mar in January

Now that the Christmas and New Year festivities are over we will all be looking forward to when the summer season begins once again - but there's no need to wait for the summer sun especially if you have just a few days holiday you need to take from work early this year. Today we were by the beach in Lloret and although it looked very cold as we looked out this morning it was a surprisingly very mild 17ºc walking along the seafront.

Christmas & Reyes in Lloret

Today in Spain is traditionally the day that the children receive their Christmas presents...not from Father Christmas but the 3 Kings! In Lloret at 6pm this evening we can see them arrive by boat then make their way up the beach to the Town Hall. From there they travel to the sports pavillion at the back of town throwing sweets out to the hundreds of spectators who usually line the streets to watch the parade pass by....a very special event for all the kids to see!

Lloret Blog is 10yrs old!

The Lloret Stuff blog has now been online for 10 years, the first post was published by Debbie on 31st Dec 2005.....shortly after that she passed it all over to me....thanks Debbie!!
Since that time there have been thousands of photos published that I have taken in just about every street and corner of Lloret de Mar...as well as some from a few places further afield.
Thanks to everyone who pops by to look at the photos, judging by the stats which I have embedded in the blog I can tell that we are just as popular now as we were at the very start.

So here's to the next few thousand pics and Happy New Year to you all!

Tirada a l'Art - Lloret de Mar

 It was a beautiful start to the day on Sunday morning for the fishing event Tirada a l'Art. This is an old form of fishing and in Lloret de Mar they still carry out this tradition several times a year. Whatever fish is caught its immediately washed and cooked for everyone who has helped bring in the net...served with lots of bread & wine!

There's been a great atmosphere in Lloret this weekend with the pre-Christmas fiesta holiday. Its almost like the summer months when the streets are packed with visitors and no parking in town! The shops are doing well with all these extra people shopping for their Christmas gifts for friends and families.

Tirada L'art - Lloret de Mar

Are you an early riser? If the answer is yes then you might like to take a walk down to Lloret beach this coming Sunday at 8am to see the old form of fishing carried out right on the beach near to the museum. Photos below are from one of the previous fishing events.....you may also be lucky enough to catch a fantastic sun rise!

Christmas in Lloret de Mar

Christmas will soon be here and Lloret de Mar is ready! The lights are up and the Christmas tree is in place in front of the Town Hall. This coming weekend 5-6th December there will a Christmas fair and lots of exciting activities around the church square. 

November in Lloret

Walking around the streets of Lloret during the winter months and some days you will hardly see a soul! The hotels that do remain open during the winter are normally busier at the weekends with people just here to stay for a weekend break. But as you can see from these photos the weather can and usually is very pleasant, although much colder in the evenings through the day the sun will still be shining most days! ..... a great opportunity to explore some of the older streets in Lloret....some of which you can see here.

Visiting Cadaques

The beautiful small white village of Cadaques is approx 90 minutes drive from Lloret de Mar and somewhere you must visit if you have the opportunity! It's a very popular tourist attraction any time of year owing to its links to famous artists such as Dali and Picasso.
