Costa Brava Rally 2012

It looks like its going to be a very busy two weeks in Lloret!

This weekend we saw the Frisbee tournament taking place, which brought teams from all over Europe to Lloret. This coming Easter weekend the hotels will be full of holiday makers here for their spring break, and also all the bars and nightclubs will now be opening daily rather than just for the weekends. We also have the Historic Costa Brava Rally taking place the week after Easter 12-15th April. This event also brings hundreds of people to town, including the drivers, mechanics and followers of the sport.

Just about ready for Summer

Lloret de Mar is just about ready to welcome holidaymakers for the coming Easter holidays. All the boats will be starting their trips up and down the coast as from next week, although the Catamaran Cruise and the Neptune boat have started their trips as from this weekend. The buoys and markers for the boats and parasailing  have been put in place this week (see photos) and the large hole which appeared in front of the beach bar in Fenals as also been filled in and re-tiled!

Lloret de Mar Frisbee Tournament 2012

 On the beach this week end you can see the annual Frisbee tournament starting at 12.30 each day. This event seems to be growing in popularity every year, the beach was full of action yesterday with more teams than ever taking part!

Lloret de Mar's New Summer Season

With just a few days to go before the Easter weekend it now seems the new summer season has officially started. Down on the main hotel/nightclub strip in Lloret is very busy today with holiday coaches arriving and dropping off guest's outside their hotels.This is also the weekend that the bars and clubs etc now reopen for their new season, many with a surprising new look. Good luck to them all, lets hope they all have a successful summer - we have lost too many of the British bars during recent months.

We keep hearing that this law will be put into force again but it doesn't seem to happen. One recent law that has been passed is that it's now forbidden to walk around Barcelona in the nude....it was happening on quite a regular basis believe it or not

Lloret de Mar Market Day

Every Tuesday morning is when the local outdoor market is held in Lloret. The market stall holders start trading at about 8-830am and close at 1pm.


Best bargains to be had here are clothing, handbags and typical Spanish souvenirs. The Spanish style dresses and shoes are always a good present to take home for grand daughters and the Barcelona football strips will please any little football fan back at home!

Coach companies run excursions to Lloret de Mar from the other resorts up and down the coast especially to visit this colourful market so it does get very busy during the summer months but its still worth the effort as you'll find some great bargains...Try to get there as early as possible to miss the rush as I do!

Fenals Beach

Work has now begun to repair the unsightly hole in the walkway near Fenals beach. This gaping hole which appeared several weeks ago is said to have been caused by heavy rain from last year which weakened the foundations, the council say that the work should be finished by Easter!
