Just when we thought summer was here !

After a really unsettled start to the holiday season, Thursday was the warmest day so far this year. Local temperatures were 23c, so quite a few people headed for the beach. Today was a little cooler with a slight breeze but still warm enough to top up your tan! These 2 photos were taken today showing just a few holidaymakers on Fenals beach...BUT rain is forecast again for the beginning of the week!

We did see one group of lads in their mid 20s or 30s who are here on holiday from the UK, and some of them looked as though they had awfully bad sunburn. Possibly after falling asleep on the beach! One of them could hardly walk his legs and feet were that badly burnt. So if you are due to come on holiday, be careful if you haven't been in the sun for a while, it may feel quite cool in the shade but the sun is still very strong.

Lloret de Mar Weather.

Just over the last last few days in Lloret the weather has been really miserable with rain almost everyday. Here is the forecast for the coming week, it is looking a little better with just one more day of rain forecast for the 7th April. This will be good news for the Easter holidaymakers, hopefully the sunshine will make another appearance shortly!

Ryanair Flights

Ryanair are to shortly start a daily flight from Girona to Seville. This is a fantastic city with loads of history. After having spent the last few weeks in Southern Spain, I did visit Seville for the day, and can recommend a trip there. Seville is one of the oldest cities in Spain with magnificent buildings and monuments.

More news from Ryanair is that they are also planning flights into Barcelona from the UK, this will probably be bad news for Girona airport as approx 50% of their arrivals into Girona travel onwards to Barcelona.
So lets hope they dont reduce the Girona flights.

Stormy Weather in Lloret.

Recent storms on the Costa Brava over the Christmas period caused havoc to the coast line. I heard that one of the boats which travel up and down between the resorts was all smashed up on the beach down in Blanes, unfortunately I wasn't able to get there to take photos. My husband Steve went down to Fenals beach to see what damage was done there, these are the photo's he took.

Branches had snapped off the trees, the sea had come over the wall onto the walkway and in some places broken down the wall and brought up the tiles.

Nativity Scene in Blanes

Today I went down to Blanes to do a bit of shopping in the outdoor market. At this time of year they usually have a large Nativity Scene set out at the end of the road where the fruit stalls are which always attracts a lot of interest from the passers by. Today though there wasn't as many people about so I decided to have a walk over to have a look.

Expecting to see the exact same set up as last year, I was pleasantly surprised ! It is completely different and also seems to be larger. The scene takes up all the end of the narrow road and is placed on raised platform as you can see from the photos. Many of the plants and trees are real with all the surrounding grass also being real. Making a very nice attraction, which a lot of thought and hard work has gone into.

The scene not only shows the Nativity, but also farmers working in the fields along side cows and sheep. There is also a small water feature with a waterfall. Its even worth a trip to Blanes to just see this !
