Lloret de Mar Triathlon

Guests of the hotels and residents of Fenals were woken very early this morning as the Triathlon got off to an early start with the commentator for the event on the loudspeaker at 8.30 reading out the agenda for the morning! I didn't get to see the swimmers but here are a few pictures of the cyclist's on the start of their 20km race.

Les Alegries Flower Festival Lloret

The church of Les Alegries was a hive of activity today as they were busy preparing for tomorrows event, unfortunately we wont be able to make it then but here is just a sample of what we saw today. More than 200 tables and chairs are been set out for lunch and drinks so it seems they are expecting a good crowd for the day long event and as an added bonus the weather forecast is great!

Lloret de Mar weekend events.

This weekend in Lloret there are 2 very popular annual events taking place. Both are on Sunday but you will have to be an early riser to catch the first one...Fenals beach at approx 9am is the 5th edition of the local Triathlon. Those taking part will be starting off with a 750mt swim out into Fenals bay, after a quick change of clothing the next event will be the 20km cycle and then a run to complete the triathlon.
Sundays other event is the day long Flower Festival at Les Alegries church just on the edge of town on the Girona road. This is a day of various activities for all the family, with the church and grounds all adorned in flowers! lunch will be prepared by the Xino Xano organisation at a cost of €11 on the day or €8 if purchased before at the museum. A free shuttle bus for those needing transport will run from the bus station, and back again in the afternoon.

Todays views of Lloret show the beach looking very different to how its usually photographed!

Catalunya Villages - Pubol

Another well worth visit if your travelling around the Catalan countryside is Pubol where the famous artist/surrealist Dali once lived, so there is a small museum of his works of art you can visit. Pubol is a typical very well kept village with narrow cobbled streets and just a few small gift shops and restaurants again only about a 1hr drive from Lloret. From here you have fantastic views of the surrounding countryside and Pyrenees mountains which just now are still covered in snow!
