Lloret de Mar sunrise

This mornings view of the sunrise over Lloret.

A day in Palamos

Up until about 5-6 years ago Palamos was very easy to reach via the boats from Lloret, but since they have stopped doing these trips so far up the coast then you would have to travel there by car or bus. At only about 30-40 minutes by car from Lloret then it's a very nice place to visit.
The port of Palamos is also a regular stop off point for some of the cruise liners sailing their way around Mediterranean, the 'Thompson Dream' is one liner which is often seen there.
In the port there is a vey interesting fishing museum which gives a great insight to how fishing is done and what sort of life the fishermen actually have. Also you can take part in their cookery classes showing how to prepare and cook some of the local seafood caught that very day.

Above is a boat in the port which has been turned into a very nice restaurant!

Two local fishermen doing what seems to be the very tedious job of repairing the nets.

A trip to Blanes

Only 20 minutes travelling south on the bus from Lloret brings you to the next resort on the map - Blanes.

Blanes has lots to offer, with one of its best features being its beaches - 4km in total! and its promenade along where there is the marina, restaurants, lovely garden areas, play areas for the children, ice cream kiosks and also kiosks to book a boat trip. The local market is held here every Monday and has some great bargains, the local fruit & veg market is held just one street back from the prom and this is open every day except Sunday. Blanes also has a fantastic mostly traffic free shopping centre, where lots of people from other towns often prefer to do their shopping.

Other attractions at Blanes are its botanical gardens the Marimurtra and the Pinya de Rosa both are easily reached by the special buses which take you up to the cliff tops where you have fantastic views of the coast on the way.

Canyelles Beach - Lloret

Just a short way up the coast on the way to Tossa de Mar from Lloret lies Canyelles Urbanisation, this area has its own beach which is surrounded by woodland, apartments and villas. On the beach is the Canyelles Chiringuito - handy for a drink or snack, or there is a large restaurant just with lots of outdoor seating where they do a fantastic 'menu del dia'
Boats from Lloret visit the beach during the summer months, or you can catch a local bus from Lloret seafront, but if you have your own car then there is ample parking.
