Just a short journey up the coast from Lloret de Mar is the town of Figueres, the birthplace of Salvador Dali. If you have the use of a car then its easily reached in about 1 hour or so but by public transport you would first have to make your way to Girona then travel by either bus or train from there. Whichever way this is a day not to be missed! All the main sights are situated close to the town centre so are easily reached on foot, also there are lots of cafes, and restaurants where you can take a break from the busy little streets and shops, many of which sell gifts and souvenirs based on the art works of Dali.

The town of Figueres itself is a photographers paradise but beware if you go into the museum, you are not allowed to take any photos without first applying for permission! Visit the official web site here....
