On a long narrow peninsula looking down on the Panta de Sau reservoir is where the 11th century monastery of Sant Pere de Casserres is situated, when you reach the monastery there is a visitors centre, restaurant and toilets which we were very surprised to see! (Where do these people live who work up there!)
We visited Sant Pere on Thursday 27th Nov and also the same day we found another road which took us higher still onto the village of Tavertet from where the fantastic views stretch out in front of you for miles and miles...standing on the edge of the cliffs in Tavertet you are 1,000 metres above sea level in total!
To reach both these places there are some really scary narrow roads weaving all around the mountainsides but the scenery is fantastic once you get to the top! It wasn't an ideal day for taking photos owing to the dark stormy skies but the light was changing all the time so all in all we don't think the photos turned out too bad. We were actually looking down on the clouds at one point, so couldn't see what was below until it started clearing....then what a view it was!
