Lloret de Mar Weather September.

These 2 photos taken earlier this year show just how packed Lloret de Mar beach gets with hardly a spare place to found. Temperatures during the months of July and the larger part of August were almost unbearable this year reaching the high 30s just about everyday. Things are much different now that we are into September, temps are more comfortable now that they have dropped to the 20s but still feeling very hot if you are laid sunbathing for any length of time. With the breeze which we have had just recently it can quite deceiving just how powerful the sun is, so if you are here on holiday this month dont take any chances, make sure you keep your skin is protected from burning with lots of suncream!

Lloret de Mar Shopping

The shops who had outdoor stalls today must have done well judging by the amount of people who went to the last day of the sales. There were lots of bargains to be found if you just had the patience to look through all the rails of clothes, and rummage through the things which were just piled on the stalls in a heap! The best buys were the last of the summer fashion ranges and accessories such as handbags, belts and jewellery.

Lloret de Mar Shopping

The end of August we see a vast change in Lloret not only with the weather but the shops who were mainly catering for the tourist market start to restock for the winter season to cater more for the locals. Shops which have been holding their summer sales recently also need to clear out the last of their summer ranges, these are mainly the fashion and shoe stores. For just one day only on  Sunday 5th September the stores in the main shopping area 's in Lloret are allowed to set up stalls outside their stores and bring the last of their sales goods out onto the streets in order to sell the last items. Stalls will be also placed around the church and in front of the town hall...be early to catch the best bargains!

Where Are The Tourists?

After what seems like weeks and weeks of endless hot sun the weather suddenly changed last week bringing the odd thunder storm and at times heavy rain, not very nice for the holiday makers! The Spanish annual summer break began on 1st August, which should have seen the hotels and business's in town full to bursting point, but sadly there doesn't seem to be as many tourists here to what there usually is in August. The photos here of Fenals beach were taken on the first fine day after the recent rain fall, normally we would have expected to see beach full at this time of year...but no!!

WHERE ARE THE TOURIST'S?

Lloret de Mar Nightlife.

Lloret de Mar is often referred to as the biggest and liveliest resort on the Costa Brava. The nightlife here carries on from dusk till dawn until you just cant party any longer! The vast number of nightclubs and disco's etc are all located in what the locals refer to as the 'west end'
You will find most of the clubs on one main strip in Lloret, its just one long road of the biggest and best clubs you could ever imagine!

Lloret is a great place to come for the nightlife even if its just for a 3-4 days break. Within only 30 minutes drive from Girona airport none of your precious time is wasted with long transfers between your hotel and airport. The airport bus from Girona can bring you from the airport and take you directly to the bus station in the centre of Lloret de Mar for only 8€.
Pay some of the best clubs a visit now by clicking on the link here > NIGHTLIFE

Lloret de Mar Beach

This photo of the beach in Lloret de Mar is taken from Sa Caleta area just by the castle, I always used to prefer to sun bathe here when I used to come to Lloret on holiday. Its quite rocky here so you have be careful if you go into the sea, but for families its ideal as its quite a narrow stretch of sand so you can keep a close eye on the kids. Plus the slope into the sea is not as steep as other parts of the beach.

Lloret de Mar Weather

After weeks and weeks without a drop of rain here on the coast in Lloret it finally arrived today, there was a bit of thunder through the night but this morning started off as a nice but cooler day.
Mid morning a storm started and very heavy rain, the photos are taken from our balcony. We hope that the temperatures will be more bearable for a few days now as temperatures have been in the 30s for what seems like forever!

Lloret's Fireworks

The fireworks display on Monday night  was another huge success with thousands watching all over town. Again, the same as last year they  were set to music from various movies. We were watching from the beach where there was hardly a space to be found!

Our Visitors!

This morning we had 2 early morning visitors to our balcony!
We had heard an unusual  noise in the tree unlike any bird we have heard before, when all of a sudden these 2 parrot like birds landed right on the piece which separates us from next door. We suspect that they might not be wild but have escaped from a cage somewhere.

Lloret de Mar Clon Festival, Michael Jackson

The first of this years Clon Festival events began night with the Michael Jackson Tribute, it was again a fantastic success and held in its new location of Placa Pere Torrent (the carousel square) which proved to be a good move. Whether you like Michael Jackson or not it was a very good show and he sang and danced for 2 solid hours!

I wouldn't like to guess how many watched last nights show but its certainly the biggest crowd I've seen for any of the previous tribute events.
If you would like to see the latest Clon Festival pics  go to Lloretstuff.com

Lloret de Mar - Places to visit.

This grand old building which can be seen on the main Blanes road which runs behind Lloret de Mar is one of the oldest buildings in town. It originally started out as a farmhouse later to be fully restored in the 19th century to a luxury summer home. In 1954 it was again restored, this time to become the Hotel Mànana. It has now undergone another face lift and is home to a permanent exhibition of Iberian archaeology, along with housing Lloret's local office of Girona's chamber of commerce and Lloret de Mar's town council. The surrounding land has been landscaped, with new footpaths newly planted tree's, shrubs and a new colourful playground has been installed for the kids.

Lloret de Mar, Route 66

Did you know that we now have our very own American style diner here in Lloret de Mar. The owners Andy & Jackie have worked very hard to achieve something really different in Lloret. They have an excellent menu of steaks, burgers, ribs and pizzas....the list is endless!  Route 66 is a fascinating place its walls are full of genuine old style American style diner ads. I recommend you try their special offer menu of 2 meals for the price of one, served between the hours of 3pm and 7pm.
From the tables near the window you have a great views of the most well known sight in Lloret and that is the Castle at the end of the beach...also not fogetting the peaceful view looking out to sea.
You must try  ROUTE 66  when here on holiday!

Lloret de Mar Beaches

The local beaches here in Lloret have been awarded the blue flag for several years running now.
These photos just taken only 3-4 days ago show how crystal clear the sea is looking these days With the small rocky coves between Tossa de Mar and Lloret de Mar scuba diving is a very popular activity, Lloret and Canyelles have their very own  diving centres for anyone wishing to learn how to dive or hire equipment. Contact details can be found.....HERE.
To maintain the cleanliness of the beach and the coast line you can see work being carried out all day long! The beach is cleaned and raked every night, and out at sea there is a small boat which continuously sails up and down the coast several times a day picking up any rubbish which is found floating in the sea.

Lloret de Mar Watersports

Fenals beach is very busy today with the weekend tourists in town. The watersports centre are doing a good trade with the Parasailing and Flyfish etc, what better way than to take to the sea to cool off on a hot sticky day like today!
