Lloret de Mar Nightlife.

Lloret de Mar is often referred to as the biggest and liveliest resort on the Costa Brava. The nightlife here carries on from dusk till dawn until you just cant party any longer! The vast number of nightclubs and disco's etc are all located in what the locals refer to as the 'west end'
You will find most of the clubs on one main strip in Lloret, its just one long road of the biggest and best clubs you could ever imagine!

Lloret is a great place to come for the nightlife even if its just for a 3-4 days break. Within only 30 minutes drive from Girona airport none of your precious time is wasted with long transfers between your hotel and airport. The airport bus from Girona can bring you from the airport and take you directly to the bus station in the centre of Lloret de Mar for only 8€.
Pay some of the best clubs a visit now by clicking on the link here > NIGHTLIFE

Lloret de Mar Beach

This photo of the beach in Lloret de Mar is taken from Sa Caleta area just by the castle, I always used to prefer to sun bathe here when I used to come to Lloret on holiday. Its quite rocky here so you have be careful if you go into the sea, but for families its ideal as its quite a narrow stretch of sand so you can keep a close eye on the kids. Plus the slope into the sea is not as steep as other parts of the beach.

Lloret de Mar Weather

After weeks and weeks without a drop of rain here on the coast in Lloret it finally arrived today, there was a bit of thunder through the night but this morning started off as a nice but cooler day.
Mid morning a storm started and very heavy rain, the photos are taken from our balcony. We hope that the temperatures will be more bearable for a few days now as temperatures have been in the 30s for what seems like forever!

Lloret's Fireworks

The fireworks display on Monday night  was another huge success with thousands watching all over town. Again, the same as last year they  were set to music from various movies. We were watching from the beach where there was hardly a space to be found!

Our Visitors!

This morning we had 2 early morning visitors to our balcony!
We had heard an unusual  noise in the tree unlike any bird we have heard before, when all of a sudden these 2 parrot like birds landed right on the piece which separates us from next door. We suspect that they might not be wild but have escaped from a cage somewhere.

Lloret de Mar Clon Festival, Michael Jackson

The first of this years Clon Festival events began night with the Michael Jackson Tribute, it was again a fantastic success and held in its new location of Placa Pere Torrent (the carousel square) which proved to be a good move. Whether you like Michael Jackson or not it was a very good show and he sang and danced for 2 solid hours!

I wouldn't like to guess how many watched last nights show but its certainly the biggest crowd I've seen for any of the previous tribute events.
If you would like to see the latest Clon Festival pics  go to Lloretstuff.com

Lloret de Mar - Places to visit.

This grand old building which can be seen on the main Blanes road which runs behind Lloret de Mar is one of the oldest buildings in town. It originally started out as a farmhouse later to be fully restored in the 19th century to a luxury summer home. In 1954 it was again restored, this time to become the Hotel Mànana. It has now undergone another face lift and is home to a permanent exhibition of Iberian archaeology, along with housing Lloret's local office of Girona's chamber of commerce and Lloret de Mar's town council. The surrounding land has been landscaped, with new footpaths newly planted tree's, shrubs and a new colourful playground has been installed for the kids.

Lloret de Mar, Route 66

Did you know that we now have our very own American style diner here in Lloret de Mar. The owners Andy & Jackie have worked very hard to achieve something really different in Lloret. They have an excellent menu of steaks, burgers, ribs and pizzas....the list is endless!  Route 66 is a fascinating place its walls are full of genuine old style American style diner ads. I recommend you try their special offer menu of 2 meals for the price of one, served between the hours of 3pm and 7pm.
From the tables near the window you have a great views of the most well known sight in Lloret and that is the Castle at the end of the beach...also not fogetting the peaceful view looking out to sea.
You must try  ROUTE 66  when here on holiday!

Lloret de Mar Beaches

The local beaches here in Lloret have been awarded the blue flag for several years running now.
These photos just taken only 3-4 days ago show how crystal clear the sea is looking these days With the small rocky coves between Tossa de Mar and Lloret de Mar scuba diving is a very popular activity, Lloret and Canyelles have their very own  diving centres for anyone wishing to learn how to dive or hire equipment. Contact details can be found.....HERE.
To maintain the cleanliness of the beach and the coast line you can see work being carried out all day long! The beach is cleaned and raked every night, and out at sea there is a small boat which continuously sails up and down the coast several times a day picking up any rubbish which is found floating in the sea.

Lloret de Mar Bar's

Its much too hot to be indoors these days, so what better way to enjoy the sun than to spend a relaxing afternoon on the outdoor terrace of one of the bars in Lloret de Mar?
As you wander around the narrow streets of Lloret de Mar you come across little picturesque squares such as this where all the locals meet up and have a coffee or a 'few' beers and catch up on the gossip!
A few more bars you may like to visit can be found in these pages HERE!

Barcelona Port - The World

Docking at Barcelona Port today is the cruise liner
'The World'
The World is a luxurious and very private community of people who choose to live at sea on this unique liner. You can (if you are rich enough!) actually buy an apartment on the liner just as you would buy a home on land, then simply spend your time cruising the world docking at countries on route...a nice idea if you can afford it!  If you have another residence (or residences) on land somewhere its your choice how much time you spend in your home on board, you are free to come and go as you please.

If you would like to see The World in Barcelona you have until tomorrow before she sets sail again, this time for Porto Banus in Southern Spain.
A great idea to get a real close up is to take the boat which takes you on a tour of Barcelona port for only €5.50.

Lloret de Mar Weather

Lloret de Mar beach is certainly very busy these days. This photo taken at the week end shows that after a very slow start to the season there are now plenty of holiday makers in town. The weather has been very unsettled just lately but now seems to be more settled with temperatures in the mid to high 20s. The experts are predicting this summer will be one of the hottest ever, with average highs reaching one or two degrees more than normal, but will be accompanied by storms.

Lloret de Mar Pubs

All the pubs, bars and clubs in Lloret de Mar are doing a roaring trade with the football fans.

It seems that all the English football ball fans who haven't gone to watch the games in South Africa, have come to Lloret de Mar!

Most of the bars have several wide screen TVs so the fans dont have far to go to catch the games.

Flags are flying from just about every hotel balcony, the majority of which are English.

See Buzzbys web page HERE.

Lloret de Mar - Restaurants

We had a really nice 'menu del dia' yesterday at the Can Sabata in Lloret . The cost per person is only €9 and the menu consists of a 3 course lunch with bread and wine. There was a very good selection for all 3 courses and although it was very busy the service was excellent.

The Can Sabata also do a night time menu for €12.50, again with an excellent choice for every course.

Lloret de Mar Power Cuts

Many homes in Lloret have again been without power, this time for 2 hrs last Thursday 27th May, when some parts of the town were left in the dark from 6pm - 8pm, and again yesterday (1st June) for just over an hour.
For the residents this must have brought back the awful memories of March 8th when most towns along the Costa Brava were without power owing to electricity pylons crumbling under the weight of the snow which fell on that day....Lloret residents being the worst affected with some having no power for up to 5 days!
The electricity supplier Endessa have received a total of 38,000 claims from local businesses and homes who are hoping to receive some sort of compensation for the distress caused. It seems that the electricity supply here in Lloret is still not yet back on a permanent basis.

Lloret de Mar - Promenade Bars

It used to be that the bars which line the promenade in front of the town hall were just about the dearest in town!
How things have changed now though, you can get coffee and cake for €2.50. One of the bars is serving 1 litre of Sangria with 5 tapas for only €7. Low prices like this were unheard of at these bars, so maybe we'll see the seats at these places filling up again!

Childrens Deaths in Lloret de Mar

After the tragic news of the death of 2 two young children in a room at the Miramar Hotel on Tuesday 18th in Lloret, the news agencies and TV cameras are still in place in front of the town hall on the seafront near the hotel. News of this awful crime is emerging all the time so it looks as though they will be there for quite a while yet.

Lloret de Mar Market Day

Tuesday morning is market day in Lloret, and with the good weather this morning it gave the teachers of the local infants school a good opportunity to get the kids out of the classroom and take them out to learn all names of the different vegetables for sale on the stalls!
